Question: I tried to draw a line for the doctor’s signature, but the line extended all the way across the page. How do I get a 2 inch line?
Answer: When you type 3 underscore characters in a row, followed by the Enter key, Word assumes you want to format a border and automatically does this for you. Immediately after pressing Enter, press CTL+Z to change the line back to 2 inches.
Question: I suddenly have red lines and strikethrough marks in my document. How do I get rid of these?
Answer: You accidentally turned on Revision marks (also called Track Changes). The shortcut key for this is CTL+Shift+E. Repeat this shortcut key to turn off Revision Marks.
Question: I have marks all over my document—paragraph marks, dots and arrows. What did I do and how do I get rid of them? Will they print?
Answer: These are formatting marks and they are actually quite important. It’s better to leave them on and get used to seeing them. To turn them off, click the paragraph symbol on the Standard toolbar or press CTL+Shift+8 (not the 8 on the keypad). In either case, they will not print, and the next person to open the document will not see them unless they have this feature turned on. |
